As part of CRE2’s Arts & Culture Initiative, we are thrilled to partner with Washington University’s Department of Music and The Sheldon to multiply conversations and opportunities surrounding race, ethnicity, and equity through the performing and visual arts.

Reflecting fundamental elements of sound and soul, Ukrainian “ethno-chaos” band DakhaBrakha creates a world of unique and unexpected new music. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian traditional instrumentation, the quartet’s powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture.

Following opening remarks by Provost Wendland, the band will be engaging in a conversation with Peter Palermo, Executive Director of The Sheldon, and Patrick Burke, chair of the Department of Music.

A reception will follow the event from 1:00 to 2:00pm.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
