DESCRIPTION:As part of CRE2’s Arts & Culture Initiative\, we are thrilled
  to partner with Washington University’s Department of Music and The She
 ldon to multiply conversations and opportunities surrounding race\, ethnic
 ity\, and equity through the performing and visual arts.\n\nReflecting fun
 damental elements of sound and soul\, Ukrainian “ethno-chaos” band Dak
 haBrakha creates a world of unique and unexpected new music. Accompanied b
 y Indian\, Arabic\, African\, Russian and Australian traditional instrumen
 tation\, the quartet’s powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a
  trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture.\n\nFollowing opening re
 marks by Provost Wendland\, the band will be engaging in a conversation wi
 th Peter Palermo\, Executive Director of The Sheldon\, and Patrick Burke\,
  chair of the Department of Music.  \n\nA reception will follow the event 
 from 1:00 to 2:00pm.\n\nThe event is free and open to the public\, but reg
 istration is required.
