Mark D. West,  Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

Provost Mark D. West’s work on Japanese law explores such seemingly disparate questions as “why do people in Tokyo return lost property?”, “how do Japanese judges talk about love?”, “what can we learn about corporate governance from sumo wrestlers?”, and “why do people become gangsters instead of lawyers?” In this talk, West discusses his deep commitment to scholarship and the ways in which our work can help us understand and impact our world.
