Presenting on "Innovations in the Theranostic Drug Development Paradigm"

Daniel Thorek, PhD, associate professor of radiology, at WashU School of Medicine, will speak on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 10:00 am central time in Whitaker Hall, room 218.

Abstract: A key focus of the lecture will be on the quantitative imaging of drug distribution in cancer applications. We will discuss illuminating how this capability can significantly enhance the precision and efficacy of oncologic interventions in the emerging space we call Theranostics. The laboratory focuses on opportunities and obstacles in leveraging information on the precise localization and concentration of drugs within the body in order to drive improved patient outcomes. Both pre-clinical and translational efforts of radiopharmaceutical drug development will be discussed with the goal of more precise and personalized treatments. The benefits to the drug development space will also be highlighted with a focus on alpha particle emitting radiotheranostics and the development cycles of hybrid diagnostic and therapeutic protocols.

In-person attendance is preferred. Registration is required to attend virtually.
