Borders, Vulnerability, and Protection: Rethinking Trafficking and Migration Policy
Friday, May 8, 2026 10 AM to 11 AM
About this Event
Brown Hall, St. Louis, MO 63130
https://clarkfoxpolicyinstitute.wustl.edu/borders-vulnerability-and-protection/Join the Clark-Fox Policy Institute and Forced Migration Initiative for a panel bringing together national and international scholars and practitioners to critically examine how realities of our time shape vulnerability to forced migration and trafficking. The panel situates forced migration and trafficking within broader migration governance systems, restrictive legal pathways, and uneven access to protection. Panelists will explore how policies intended to control movement may inadvertently produce conditions of precarity and vulnerability. The panel highlights the lived experiences of migrants navigating complex legal, social, and economic landscapes. It also considers the role of service providers, legal frameworks, and transnational actors in shaping protection responses.
This event will take place in person in the Brown Lounge at WashU’s Brown School. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom option is also available.
