Nostra Aetate is a declaration of the Second Vatican Council issued on October 28, 1965 that concerns the Catholic Church’s relationship with non-Christian religions. The document, which means “In Our Time,” repudiates anti-Semitism, rejects the charge of deicide against the Jews, and affirms the Church’s shared spiritual heritage with Judaism and respect for Islam and other religions.

This event brings together several St. Louis organizations to reflect on the 60 years since the declaration and how to embrace the future. The Most. Rev. Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski and Rabbi Noam Marans, Director of Interreligious Affairs at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), will join together in a conversation moderated by Fr. David J. Suwalsky, St. Louis University’s VP-Mission and Identity. The John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics Director, Abram Van Engen, will welcome the gathering and act as host at Washington University in St. Louis.
