Innovations in PET and Molecular Imaging Technologies at WashU

Washington University in St. Louis is the birthplace of positron emission tomography (PET) technology and continues to be a leader in its innovations and applications. PET is used clinically for the diagnosis of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiac diseases, etc. and to guide therapies. It is also used preclinically to study disease models and to develop novel molecularly targeting agents for imaging and therapeutic applications. This seminar will provide a brief overview of PET innovations from WashU. It will also introduce a recent technical breakthrough in another molecular imaging technology: single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) at WashU.
