DESCRIPTION:Internal Medicine Residents are presenting their research made 
 possible by the Mentors in Medicine Program.\n\nThe primary goal of the Men
 tors in Medicine (MiM) Program is to prepare the academic leaders of tomorr
 ow. Internal Medicine residents at Washington University School of Medicine
  have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive and structured ment
 ored research and career development program.\n\nThe Mentors in Medicine Pr
 ogram consists of three components:\n\nFaculty Career Mentors\n\nInterns ar
 e paired with faculty based on common academic interests to facilitate long
 -term career development. Career mentors serve as advocates and advisors fo
 r the mentee. Career mentors offer support\, help to establish academic goa
 ls\, and provide guidance in planning successful career paths.\n\nResident 
 Mentors\n\nInterns are paired with upper level residents to help the intern
  make a successful transition into residency training. Resident mentors off
 er both professional and social support to the new interns\, particularly d
 uring the first year of their training. Long-term professional relationship
 s frequently develop.\n\nResearch Mentorship\n\nThose interested in clinica
 l research can apply for project funding. Faculty mentors provide research 
 mentorship. The Internal Medicine Residency supports and encourages the pur
 suit of academic careers in the areas of basic\, translational\, clinical r
 esearch\, medical education\, quality improvement\, health policy\, and oth
 ers.
