Join the Living Earth Collaborative for Dr. Ingo Schlupp's seminar, Instant speciation in a livebearing fish, the Amazon molly

Abstract: Amazon mollies are among the few asexual vertebrates. They reproduce via sperm dependent parthenogenesis. They are a hybrid species that was formed in a single event that cannot be recreated in the laboratory. I will discuss this unique speciation event and its consequences and contrast that with other modes of speciation also found in livebearing fishes.

After the seminar at 2pm in Rebstock 322, we will move to McDonnell 212 at 3pm for the following reception. Refreshments will be provided. Please share this event with anyone who may be interested!
