Speaker Information

Pang is the Boya Young Professor in the School of International Studies at Peking University and Director of the PKU Analytics Lab for Global Risk Politics. She holds joint appointments at the PKU Institute of Carbon Neutrality and the Zhongguancun Academy for Artificial Intelligence. She also serves as Deputy Director of the Central Committee for Education and Social Affairs of the China Democratic League.

Professor Pang’s research focuses on global risk politics, the international political economy of global value chains and emerging technologies, as well as computational methods and the application of artificial intelligence in social science. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Political Analysis, International Organization, Political Science Research and Methods, International Studies Quarterly, and the Review of International Political Economy. She is the author of Global Risk Politics in the Age of Anxiety and Anger (2026) and BRICS Foreign Aid Cooperation in Global Governance (2016). Her research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, and the U.S. National Science Foundation and has received multiple prestigious awards.

Prior to joining Peking University, Professor Pang was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. She subsequently served as Associate Professor and then Professor in the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, where she was also Co-Director of the Carnegie–Tsinghua Global Policy Center and Vice Dean of the Institute for International Relations Studies.

Professor Pang received her B.A. and M.A. from Peking University and her Ph.D. from WashU.
