Hunter Patton-Gentert, Director of Clinical Science

Hunter Patton-Gentert joined the Gateway team in January 2023 as the Director of Clinical Science. In this role, he oversees the pre- and post-award processes for all Gateway grants and establishes relationships with institutions and thought leaders for strategic partnerships. Hunter is also dedicated to educating donors and patients as well as junior oncology investigators in collaboration with the Chair of the Gateway Peer Review Committee and other senior oncology investigators. Before joining Gateway, Hunter gained vital experience in clinical operations, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs at biotech and pharmaceutical companies. He holds a PharmD from the University of Illinois Chicago.

Kari Watts, Director of Marketing

Kari Watts joined Gateway in August 2023, bringing her diverse marketing expertise from the worlds of finance, automotive, and cancer care to her role as Director of Marketing. She transforms Gateway's complex clinical trials into compelling stories that resonate with donors, while overseeing the organization's marketing strategy – from social media campaigns to traditional outreach. Her role in translating science into human impact helps supporters see exactly how their contributions drive breakthrough discoveries.
