ABSTRACT:
This seminar presents the case of the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI) and its adoption of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in undergraduate programs in computer, electronic and automation  engineering. Supported in part by the Fulbright PMG initiative, the project involved a comprehensive curriculum redesign to promote active learning and student-centered approaches. Strategies such as flipped classrooms and early access to materials were key to fostering  engagement and autonomy. The initiative led to a measurable reduction in failure rates and improved student retention. This presentation will share insights into the implementation process, the pedagogical shifts and the broader impact of PBL on engineering education in Brazil.
