Julie Palmer, ScD, MPH is the Karin Grunebaum Professor in Cancer Research at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, with a secondary appointment as Professor of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health. She is director of the Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University and co-director of the BU-BMC Cancer Center. Dr. Palmer’s research program focuses on the etiology of breast cancer, with an emphasis on U.S. Black women. She has been a leader of the Black Women’s Health Study since its inception in 1995. In 2017, Dr. Palmer received the AACR Distinguished Lectureship on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities award in recognition of her breast cancer research. She is both a Komen Scholar and a Breast Cancer Research Foundation investigator.
